To kick-off the new year, four CREW panelists provided commercial real estate market updates at a virtual lunch and learn last week. Lana Howell, Managing Director of Colliers Utah, provided a general overview of industrial, office, retail, and multifamily trends and how influences such as water usage, inflation, supply chain, etc. will continue to impact the market. Gina Moore, Director within the Industrial Division of Cushman and Wakefield, led the group through a deep dive of the industrial market in Utah. She discussed the industries thriving in Utah, up-and-coming cities prime for industrial real estate, increasing rates, and pre-leasing trends.
Next, the group heard from Barb Johnson, First Vice President at CBRE, who discussed office real estate trends. Barb shared statistics highlighting stable cap rates and described clients’ flight to quality as a means for strengthening attraction and retention of talent. Lastly, Tracy Forsling, an associate with the retail brokerage team at Cushman and Wakefield, emphasized retail’s ability to bounce back and increasing focus on unique, experiential qualities to get people in the door.
The program concluded with a brief Q&A between panelists and participants. Participants enjoyed learning from the speakers and gaining insight to the commercial real estate trends that are top of mind in 2022.
