CREW Utah and the Utah ULI chapter co-sponsored the September CREW Utah luncheon at Holladay Hills City Hall. The event’s main program featured a presentation by Mack Woodbury, the Vice President of Development at Woodbury Corporation. He provided insight to the Holladay Hills joint development project, a mixed-use project consisting of 58 acres at the former Cottonwood Mall site in Holladay, UT. The three project owners (Woodbury Corporation, Millrock Capital LLC, and Ball Ventures) consider the development a legacy project.
Mack explained the project’s unique challenges and opportunities with attendees. The development’s players were tasked with creating a master plan for a cohesive approach in a market where it’s difficult to receive approval for growth. And zoning laws subject to various interpretations proved difficult, as the responsibility for interpreting such nuances usually falls on the land owner.
Despite the challenges, the development aims to create a favorable pedestrian experience with several retail, restaurant, and outdoor seating areas by 2025. A mix of apartments will attract people to the retail street, and a design build for an office building will begin construction in the fall. Mack shared animations and images to bring the development plans to life.
The event was sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield and Bridge Investment Group.
